Matinicus Island School 

School overview

We are on a beautiful small island 22 miles off the shore of Midcoast Maine. Students in grades K-8 attend school in our one-room schoolhouse.

We are in the process of researching the possibility of having an alternative school year that would run approximately from April 1st to December 30th. Here are our next steps:

• We need a commitment from parents that they will send their children to school in Matinicus. Please email the superintendent at petegallace@gmail.com if you plan to send your child.

• If we have students, we will request additional funding from the town to pay the teacher's salary.
